Bark Shrine: tulip poplar bark, pine needles in bird netting, sumac berry clusters, 9½ feet tall, 8 feet diameter. Installed at The McGuffy Art Center, Charlottesville, Va., January 2002. The tulip poplar bark was collected from a nearby logging site, dried in a neighbor’s barn, and frames made to be able to connect the “logs” together in various configurations.
